Saeed Abdurahiman is a postdoctoral researcher at the IBD Leuven group (KU Leuven) with Bram Verstockt, where he applies multiomics approaches to advance precision medicine in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He earned his integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology (minor in Chemistry) from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Thiruvananthapuram, India. Subsequently, he completed a one-year predoctoral research stay under Gianluca Matteoli at KU Leuven, investigating the role of macrophages in gut inflammation through in vivo and in vitro models.
Driven by an interest in immunology and computational biology, Saeed pursued a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with Prof. Matteoli, where he explored gut inflammation, fibrosis, and tumor-related processes. His research leveraged advanced bioinformatic pipelines to decode myeloid–stromal interactions using single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, resulting in several publications in high-impact journals.
Currently at KU Leuven, Saeed continues to bridge experimental, clinical, and computational biology, developing integrated workflows for multiomic data analysis. He actively collaborates with clinical and basic research teams and industry partners, mentors junior researchers, and remains dedicated to translating scientific insights into practical therapeutic strategies for gastrointestinal disorders.
