During a warm and, surprisingly, sunny August week, nine intrepid scientists from across Europe travelled to the UK’s second largest city, Birmingham – home to Cadbury World and birthplace of the Mini and Jack Grealish (the footballer). Hailing from Belgium, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, and Türkiye, the scientists came to the University of Birmingham to take on the challenge of multiplex image analysis in the Mye-InfoBank training school, jointly hosted by Vinton Cheng (University of Birmingham) and Karine Serre (University of Lisbon). With workshops on Sopa (Spatial omics pipeline and analysis), a powerful open source spatial omics analysis platform, led by Kevin Mulder (Paris-Saclay University) and QuPath, each participant contributed to the development of a bespoke image analysis pipeline. The outputs of this training school will further Mye-InfoBank COST Action’s goal of phenotyping myeloid cells in diseases associated with chronic inflammation.
